Melandro de la Rosa
I earned my law degree from the University of California at Davis. My interest in criminal defense
began while at King Hall. I first participated in the Prison Law Clinic, where I helped prisoners
file grievances against the California Department of Corrections. I also worked as a legal intern
for both the Santa Clara Public Defender’s Office and the Yolo County Public Defender’s Office. As
an intern, I worked on motions to suppress, handled a misdemeanor caseload, and completed a few
trials.
Upon admission to the State Bar of California, I began my career with the Yolo County
Public Defender’s Office. After spending a number of successful years there, I began working for the
Sacramento County Public Defender’s Office as a criminal defense attorney.
All my years in Public Defender’s Offices evidences my dedication to criminal defense and to
protecting people’s rights. I spent practically every day in court interacting with judges and
battling the Sacramento district attorney. So I am very familiar with the courts in Yolo and Sacramento
Counties. The heavy caseloads have taught me to thrive under pressure and surmount many challenges.
The dozens of trials I performed has provided me with a vast wealth of knowledge and experience.
